PAD 3: Departures

Today’s Poem a Day Challenge topic is departures. Don’t forget to check out all the entries, or to enter yourself, at Writer’s Digest.

Departures

Flight 1102 preparing for take off-

Searching for a job,

Sending resumes,

Ironing the suit,

Hand on the door,

Walking in to the interview,

You are ready to take off.

A new direction.

A new field.

You feel as if you are priming your engines,

Taxiing the runway.

You are ready to start,

Ready to begin again.

A new career

Never too late to start afresh

Never too old to learn something new

Never too senior to see a new way

As long as the junior,

The interviewer,

The “boss”

Is not too young to see

The value of experience

The insight of time-

As long as the tower doesn’t

Ground the plane.
