Nature’s Bounty

This morning I sat on my brother-in-law’s deck looking out on the koi pond, the green backyard bedecked with trees, and the bordering nature preserve. What beauty. What peace. I was not able to get to Mass this morning, but sitting there in the sunshine with a light breeze blowing and reading the day’s prayers and looking out on this serene scene filled me with peace. I cannot create a perfect moment, a beautiful summer day, a forest of trees, a song of birds, but I can be inspired by them. I hope you can be too. Let God, a Higher Power, the Spirit, whatever you call Him (Her), inspire you to create beauty.

The mourning dove coos his doleful song while

Pecking the seeds that have fallen beneath the feeder.

The woodpecker helps himself to a snack

Before flying to the tree for a bug or two.

Then, the yellow finch swoops in, flapping

His black and yellow wings, taking a nibble

Before fluttering away when

The bully jay arrives in his brilliant blue

To take possession of the feeder and

The seeds underneath.

  1. That would be like heaven for me sitting there watching the Blue Jays and the beautiful hummingbirds. They are like a cross between a bird and an angel.
In my garden in Orange, the last house that I had with my ex husband the rocket scientist, I put bird feeders all around the perimeter of property.
I had a beautiful garden that I created with daffodils, Lily the Nile, and I naturalized crocus that would come up in the spring with bulbs. I MISS HAVING A HOUSE of my own.
IT was really awesome like a orchestra flowers.
On the other side of the planter was jumbo gladiolus in red and gold.
I can see the garden my mind’s eye because I have a photographic memory. My brain is such that that part of my brain is larger than other people. I have epilepsy and when I was born a very tiny amount of damage because of a spec THE SIZE OF A PIN.
GOD MADE ME SPECIAL THOUGH, AND MY brain over compensated in the area of language and arts. MY EPILEPTOLOGIST IN Los Angeles explain that to me once and then it made sense why I can do what I can do..
