PAD 15: Just Words

Today’s prompt is to use at least four of these eight words in the poem: flat, ring, lavish, vessel, paper, blacklist, gaudy, tooth. I managed to work them all in, a fun exercise with no relationship to real life, but the closing thought rings true for all.

Just Words

A lavish ring sets you

On a new course in

A vessel built for two.

The papers have been

Signed and a gaudy

Send off has been orchestrated.

Yet, the aftermath of the party,

Leaves you flat, till

You are fighting tooth and nail.

After the dissolution, you find

Yourself blacklisted from the

Dining rooms of your erstwhile friends

And learn the ageless lesson that

Money never trumps

Love.
